We try to avoid all client-side scripting whenever possible, but some things are faster and easier when you have some code running on the client (your machine) our environment of choice is Java 2 (versions 1.2.1 and up) because it works the same (more or less) on all browsers and platforms and has a lot of very nice features that we want.
Although we have a few features that depend on Java, there are always plain HTML versions of the pages that will allow you to do the same job, so if you have the patience then you can ignore these pages completely.
These are some installation notes for a couple of OS/browser combinations that we have access to, people with other OS's and browsers should be able to figure out what to do with their setup to make it work from that, but if you have specific instructions please use the contact link at the bottom of the page and tell us about it so we can include the instructions here.
